The deadline for applications is OCTOBER 15TH, 2017. This is earlier than last year’s deadline.
The Government of Canada is currently accepting applications from eligible applicants interested in receiving funding from the Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF). The EAF funds organizations, businesses and other eligible recipients to improve accessibility and/or safety for people with disabilities by supporting the capital costs of renovation, construction and/or retrofit activities and the provision of accessible technologies in workplaces and communities across Canada.

211 Service Celebrates Milestone – 100,000 Calls Received Since Launch
211 Nova Scotia –the non –profit phone service that helps people connect with human and social services, is celebrating a major milestone with 100,000 calls received since the service launched almost four years ago, on February 11, 2013. The 100,000th call came at about 10:10 on January 10th from a resident in Digby County who was referred to 211 by a local service provider.
“This milestone is significant because 211 is still a relatively new service” said Executive Director Mike Myette. “Before 211, knowing who and where to call for help was a challenge. It is extremely rewarding for our team to have been able to help so many people in such a short time. We are grateful to the hundreds of community organizations who have assisted us by spreading awareness of the service. “
The free and confidential service connects Nova Scotians to thousands of services and programs offered by local community groups, non-profits and government departments in their community. Calls to 211 have been climbing steadily at an average rate of 30% per year over the past four years, as more Nova Scotians take advantage of the phone service. During 2016, over 35,000 calls were received and visits to the website more than doubled to 172,000, as compared to the previous year.
“The steady increase we have seen in call volumes and website visits over the last four years means that more people in Nova Scotia are getting access to help and that’s why we’re here. It also means that we’ve been able to collect more robust data on needs across the province,” said Myette. “With this data, we truly are getting a handle on what people need and a more thorough understanding of these needs will help us better respond to them.”
